Imagine that your only means of communication is your mobile phone, and you don’t have any money to buy any credit!

Imagine if you require medication and there is no way you can get it unless you pay!

Imagine that you have just cooked enough food for 100 people, you need to distribute that food, you get in your car and you have NO fuel!

This is what happens with ACWW. It is fairly easy to get people to contribute funds for projects across the world, because it gives them a “warm, fuzzy” feeling and they believe they are helping. Don’t get me wrong, this is great BUT funds are also required to be able to distribute these funds to the places they need to go.

Just as your imagination has taken you there, we can choose the projects, looking particularly at self-help projects, income-generating projects, water projects, projects to assist women with achieving their potential and projects that would otherwise slip through the nets of larger organisations.

The women who stand on the Board of ACWW DO NOT RECEIVE payment for their work. They do receive expenses but these are carefully monitored and must be approved BEFORE being spent.

The staff who work in the London office, have a great empathy for the work they do and give above and beyond their call of duty.

This is where your “pennies” go. So wherever and whenever you can (in your everyday life, your community and your clubs and organisations), please promote the work of ACWW and Persuade those around you to assist in raising our donations for “Pennies for Friendship”. “Women Walk the World” is a great initiative to assist in this work and it would be wonderful if all members could round up sponsors etc and give to this wonderful cause.
